HFSS, it is an abbreviation of High in Fat, Salt and Sugar. The Government Department of Health’s Nutrient Profiling model is used to classify food and beverage products that are HFSS and attribute a score. It uses a scoring system which balances the contribution made by beneficial nutrients; fibre content with components that we should consume less of, fat, sugar etc. The lower the score, the “better-for-you” the product, apparently. The HFSS classification restricts the promotion and prominent placement or display of products within retail stores.
